MIAMI (AP) — A group of senior medical students in Miami will learn where they were matched to do their residency training.
The 159 students from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine will join their colleagues at medical schools across the country on Friday for Match Day.
A university statement says each student will be called on and handed an envelope. Inside will be the name of the residency training program they have been matched with. In many cases, it will be their first choice, but not always.
This is also considered the crucial "first step" to practicing medicine. It marks the transition from eight years of college and medical school to a lifetime of perfecting the art of healing.
