GETTING RID OF GEESE
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — It will be booms and beams versus the geese. Officials in Columbus, Ohio, are tired of the pesky birds near the Ohio State campus. It's hoped that booms from fireworks will scare away the birds. Workers will also beam lasers near where the geese land. Ohio State is warning students so they won't be startled by the noise. The Columbus Dispatch reports the loud fireworks will be set off every day for the rest of the year.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Beverly Swartzmiller has a good reason to celebrate. The West Virginia woman brought her husband Herb along, as she claimed her $2 million Powerball prize yesterday. Swartzmiller used the Powerplay option and matched 5 numbers from last Saturday's drawing. Swartzmiller says she will use the money to help her children, grandchildren and her church.
RARE KITTEN
SAN ANTONIO (AP) — It's a lot of excitement over an ocelot. Scientists say a remote camera captured an image of an ocelot kitten in a South Texas wildlife refuge. Federal wildlife biologist Hilary Swarts says she and her colleagues were jumping up and down and screaming. There are fewer than 50 ocelots in the wild in the U.S. Swarts tells the San Antonio Express-News it's believed the kitten is female, which will add to the breeding stock.
