CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming's newest legislator is defending a book he wrote nearly three decades ago that says many gay people demand the right to have sex with children and people with AIDS should be quarantined if they continue having sex.
The Casper Star-Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1it3dlc ) "The Death Sentence of AIDS: Vital Information For You and Your Family's Health and Safety" was self-published by Republican Rep. Troy Mader of Gillette, who was sworn in on the second day of the 2014 session.
Mader says the research in the book, mostly comprised of quotes from other sources, may be a little outdated. But he still maintains gays are more likely to be promiscuous than heterosexuals.
Mader declined to defend statistics and recommendations in the book, saying he was only quoting what experts said decades ago.
