March 9 - 16. INTERNATIONAL BASEBALL — The official start of the fourth season

of St. Petersburg International Baseball opens with a special tribute to the

city's 100th Anniversary of Spring Training as the Philadelphia Phillies play

Team Canada on Sunday, March 9 at the historic Al Lang Stadium, 230 First St.

S. Game time is at 2:05 p.m. Gates open at 12:30 p.m. Festivities on the field

begin at 1:30 p.m. ($10 Tickets available at the box office on game days.)

Pre-game highlights on Sunday include a welcome and first pitch by Mayor Rick

Kriseman, a special tribute to the world renowned Kids N' Kubs and Freedom

Spirit senior ball clubs, and an appearance by Julia Ruth Stevens, Babe Ruth's

daughter who will be watching from the stands.

At the Monday, March 10 game, Julia Ruth Stevens will be presented with a key

to the city by Mayor Kriseman as the day will be officially proclaimed "Babe

Ruth Day" in honor of the Babe's storied and long history with baseball and

the city of St. Petersburg.

Then on Tuesday, as top first round prospect Gareth Morgan leads the talented

Canadian Junior National Team's best young ball players as they challenge the

pros, Team Canada hosts the Toronto Blue Jays split squad for "Canada Day".

All games feature fun for the whole family and avid baseball fans -- prizes

and giveaways, food and drink specials and kids activities and inflatables at

select games. And, kids can "run the bases" after weekend games! The complete

All seats are $10/general admission and are available for sale at the St.

Petersburg Museum of History, 335 Second Ave. NE (The Pier approach). Museum

hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m.,

closed Mondays. Tickets will also be available at the Al Lang Stadium Box

Office, 230 First St. S approximately 90 minutes prior to the start of each

game.

The 100th Anniversary of Spring Training and St. Petersburg International

Baseball Series is sponsored by the St. Petersburg Sports Alliance, St.

Petersburg Museum of History, Tampa Bay Times and the City of St. Petersburg.

Individual game sponsors include the East West Shrine Game and the Optimist

Club of St. Petersburg.
