BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The federal government says nearly 44,000 Idahoans have selected a health insurance plan on Your Health Idaho. Officials say Idaho remains second in the nation per capita for the number of people selecting plans on the exchange. The latest numbers show a 33 percent increase from one month ago. The enrollment period ends on March 31.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho is considering a student loan repayment program to draw highly trained psychiatrists to two rural state hospitals. A high demand for psychiatrists in Idaho has kept State Hospital North in Orofino and its sister branch State Hospital South in Blackfoot chronically understaffed.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho state legislators will still be able to carry a concealed weapon without a permit. The state Senate has killed a bill that would have removed the special privilege. The House passed the bill after former Rep. Mark Patterson had his concealed weapon permit revoked for not revealing an attempted rape conviction from the 1970s.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho prison chief Brent Reinke is taking a two-week leave of absence as his grandson faces a murder charge in southern Idaho. Twenty-three-year-old Bradly Frank James is charged with first-degree murder in the Dec. 12 death of Larry R. Miller in Filer. Prosecutors say Miller was shot in the face and stabbed 25 times.
