— PRETORIA, South Africa — A friend of Oscar Pistorius testifies that before the double-amputee runner killed his girlfriend he twice fired guns for which he is charged with firearms violations.

— NOME, Alaska — Dallas Seavey wins his second Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, rallying from third place for a record victory under the famed burled arch finish line.

— Some coaches agree fan behavior in college basketball is bad — just as it's always been. San Diego State coach Steve Fisher says what's changed is "everybody sees it now."

— KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas makes a short drive to the Big 12 tournament. But there should be plenty of competition from perhaps the deepest conference in the country.

— GREENSBORO, N.C. — There's a different look to the ACC tournament. It's the first time there's 15 teams. And it's the first time in more than 30 years Virginia is seeded No. 1.

— ATLANTA — For top-ranked Florida, the SEC tournament is nothing more than a warmup for bigger games to come. For struggling Kentucky, it's a chance to regain a little mojo.

— Four men's conference tournament finals: Horizon (Milwaukee-Wright St. 7 p.m.); Northeast (Mount St. Mary's-Robert Morris, 7 p.m.); Summit (North Dakota St.- IPFW, 9 p.m.); West Coast (Gonzaga-BYU, 9 p.m.).

— INDIANAPOLIS — Brad Stevens makes his second trip back to Indianapolis since becoming the Celtics' coach. Boston faces a Pacers team on a season-long four-game losing streak. Game starts 7 p.m.

— INDIAN WELLS, Calif. — Novak Djokovic plays in the third round at the BNP Paribas Open. Top-seeded Li Na and Agnieszka Radwanska are in fourth-round matches on the women's side.

— BOCA RATON, Fla. — NHL general managers resume their meetings, discussing possible changes in the overtime format.

— LAKELAND, Fla. — Detroit's Justin Verlander is finally expected to make his first start of spring training after his previous attempt was washed out by rain.

— SOCHI, Russia — Countries bidding for the Olympics and Paralympics should not have to provide assurances about human rights standards, the head of the International Paralympic Committee says.
