STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) — Autism will be the focus of the 14th Annual Sitlington Lecture in Toxicology at Oklahoma State University's Center for Veterinary Health Sciences.
The lecture will feature Pamela J. Lein, a molecular biosciences professor from the University of California at Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. Lein will present a lecture entitled "Environmental Risk Factors for Autism: The Case for PCBs" on March 7. The lecture is open to the public at no charge.
Carey Pope, a regents professor at the OSU veterinary center's Department of Physiological Sciences, says Lein is an internationally recognized expert on developmental neurotoxicology. Pope says Lein's work on polychlorinated biphenyls suggest the environmental contaminants may play a role in developmental disorders including autism.
Lein is currently professor and director of the CounterACT Center of Excellence at UC-Davis.
