MADRID (AP) - An official says six people have died and another five members of the family suffered injuries in a fire at a small rural hotel in the north of Spain.

Ramiro Ruiz Medrano, Interior Ministry spokesman for the region of Castilla y Leon, says three adults and three minors died from suspected smoke inhalation. Three other grown-ups and two children were taken to a hospital with minor burns and respiratory complaints.

Ruiz Medrano says the fire broke out in the early hours of Saturday as the family slept.

The hotel is located in the town of Tordomar, 134 miles (215 kilometers) north of Madrid.

Ruiz Medrano said the five persons who survived the fire had minor injuries and were recovering well.
