KATMANDU, Nepal (AP) - A bus veered off a mountain highway in Nepal and plunged into a river before dawn Thursday, killing 14 people and injuring seven others, officials said.
The bus skidded off the Sidhartha highway and rolled 300 meters (990 feet) before it plunged into the Bhalukhola river in Palpa district, said government administrator Shiva Raj.
Twelve people were killed at the crash site and two more died in the hospital.
The crash occurred near Chidipani, a village 320 kilometers (200 miles) northwest of the capital, Katmandu. The highway is narrow and with hairpin bends, Raj said, adding that the visibility was poor.
