SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) - Police in Puerto Rico say a tourist from Ohio has been stabbed to death during a break-in on the island's west coast.
The police say the attack happened early Monday in the beach town of Rincon. A police statement says the assailant broke into the Arena y Mar Apartments through a sliding glass door in the middle of the night. The victim apparently walked in on him in the kitchen and was stabbed at least three times.
Police identified the victim as 41-year-old Brett Walquist of Beavercreek, Ohio. No arrests have been made in the case.
Puerto Rico is on pace to record about 900 homicides this year, about 10 percent fewer than in 2012 in the U.S. island territory.
