MILLBURN, N.J. (AP) - Police say a young lawyer received medical treatment within minutes after he was shot during a carjacking in a garage at an upscale New Jersey mall.
Tapes of 911 calls released earlier this week suggested it may have taken an ambulance 30 minutes to get to Dustin Friedland at the Short Hills mall on Dec. 15.
The Star-Ledger of Newark ( http://bit.ly/19wE0o8) reports Millburn Police Chief Gregory Weber said in a statement that police officers began administering medical care within minutes of the shooting.
Weber says the Millburn-Short Hills Volunteer First Aid Squad's on-duty crew chief drove to the scene in her own vehicle within 10 minutes. The ambulance arrived within 15 minutes and Weber says Friedland was placed in the ambulance by 9:31 p.m.
Friedland died at a hospital.
