DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - Officials at North Carolina Central University placed the campus on lockdown for a time after reports of a shooter on campus.
Campus police sounded the all-clear at the Durham school around 3:15 p.m. Thursday, nearly 45 minutes after the initial alert was issued.
A statement from the school says the order was issued after police received reports of a gun being fired at the northwestern edge of campus near a dormitory and classroom buildings. The person shot at was being questioned by law enforcement and police were still looking for a suspect.
The school said its police force and Durham police are investigating.
