KINGSTON, Jamaica (AP) - The deputy leader of Jamaica's main opposition party is declining an appointment to rejoin the faction's shadow Cabinet after losing his attempt to unseat the party's top leader.
Jamaica Labor Party leader Andrew Holness fended off the challenge by his top deputy, Audley Shaw, in a Sunday vote by delegates.
After the election, the two politicians shook hands and Shaw gave every indication his leadership challenge was over.
On Tuesday, Holness named Shaw and 13 others to his shadow Cabinet. But Shaw said he couldn't accept the finance spokesman job until "several issues of concern to me are cleared up."
Shaw says he believes Holness is trying to exclude politicians who supported his challenge and he won't accept his finance appointment until the matter is resolved.
