MADRID (AP) - Spanish police have arrested 25 Nigerians while breaking up a gang suspected of human trafficking for sexual exploitation, Internet fraud and money laundering.

Police said five women victims of sex slavery also were released.

A police statement Sunday said the gang used Spain as a springboard to send Nigerian women to be exploited in other countries and laundered profits by buying luxury products that were shipped to Lagos, Nigeria, in vans with darkened windows and welded doors.

Police seized 94 vans near Madrid and 26 loaded ones at Valencia port. Investigators estimate the value of the goods seized at 5 million euros ($6.7 million).

The arrests were made in Madrid, Toledo, Cantabria and Palma de Mallorca, but the dates that happened were not given.
