HULL, Mass. (AP) - Police in Massachusetts say schoolchildren did the right thing by reporting someone offering them rides, even though the friendly stranger turned out to be a nun.
Hull Sgt. Neil Reilly says students carrying heavy bags were walking to school this week when an elderly woman who was driving by stopped and offered them a ride. He tells The Patriot Ledger ( http://bit.ly/1eszqZx) the students were spooked by the offer because they had been warned about talking to strangers.
But assistant schools superintendent Judy Kuehn says the woman who talked to the kids was a nun.
Kuehn says teachers spoke with younger students to remind them about common-sense ways to stay safe and told parents about what happened.
