NOM NOM CITY — The burrito: Eat it smothered on a plate or wrapped in foil as you walk to work. This meal is as versatile and delicious as it is transportable.

If you’re trying to decide what’s for dinner (or lunch or breakfast, for that matter) look no further than this list of some of Utah’s best burritos. This is not an exclusive list of where to get the most authentic burritos, rather, it is a list of the most delicious food wrapped in warm tortillas Utahns can get their hands on.

Freshest: Mountain West Burrito

Honorable Mention: Chipotle Mexican Grill

This Utah County restaurant serves up hefty burritos full of the freshest ingredients, preparing everything from scratch each day. Now a subsidiary of the Heirloom Restaurant Group — the same company that owns Communal and Pizzeria 712 and focuses of fresh, local, sustainable foods — MWB offers a comprehensive list of ingredient sources online.

MWB meat burritos are delicious, but that doesn’t mean it neglects vegan or vegetarians. The restaurant offers several fillings and add-ons for those among us who don’t eat meat.

Most Authentic: Chunga’s

Honorable Mention: Red Iguana and Lone Star Taqueria

Sometimes, you need to take a trip to the border and Chunga’s al pastor does the trick.

Al pastor is a combination of dried chiles and pineapple cooked on a spit. The sweet and spicy meat, rice, beans cheese, onion and cilantro makes a mean filling for a burrito in green sauce.

Like all servings at Blue Plate Diner, the burrito is huge. Filled with black beans, pork or chicken and smothered in chile verde, these breakfast burritos will satisfy your appetite for most of the day. Served alongside the Blue Plate’s scrumptious and perfectly crisp home fries — a side dish deserving its own article — the meal is one to loosen your belt for.
