DOVER, Del. (AP) - A Delaware judge is weighing whether to impose sanctions on attorneys for owners of the former presidential yacht Sequoia in a lawsuit against a lender seeking to seize the vessel.
The judge said Tuesday that the lawsuit filed by the Sequoia Presidential Yacht Group was rife with fraud and malfeasance. But he is weighing whether to decide on sanctions himself or send the matter to the state agency charged with attorney discipline.
Sequoia sued in February to prevent FE Partners from exercising an option to purchase the yacht.
But the Sequoia group recently threw in the towel and agreed to a default judgment in favor of FE Partners, which now wants Sequoia's attorneys punished for a litany of alleged bad behavior, including fabrication and destruction of evidence and witness intimidation.
