STOCKHOLM (AP) - Swedish airport operator Swedavia says traffic at the Scandinavian country's main airport has been delayed due to technical problems in the control tower.

Swedavia spokesman Klas Nilsson says traffic was "resuming slowly" Saturday midday at Stockholm's Arlanda airport after landings and takeoffs had been halted earlier in the day. That caused delays and a handful of flight cancellations.

A technical problem which had not yet been identified meant that the control tower could not communicate with planes and a back-up system also was affected. Planes were rerouted to other nearby airports, Nilsson said.

Last year, some 19.6 million people travelled through Arlanda.
