SALT LAKE CITY (February 5, 2008) - Utah Jazz rookies Morris Almond and Kyrylo Fesenko were named to the second annual D-League All-Star Game presented by Spalding, the NBA Development League announced today.
The game will be held Feb. 16, on Center Court at NBA All-Star Jam Session presented by adidas and will tip off at 1 p.m. MT. It will be shown live on NBA TV.
The two 10-man rosters were selected by a combination of fan balloting on D-LEAGUE.com and voting of the league's 14 head coaches. The Red Team will be the home team, while the Blue Team, which includes Almond and Fesenko, will be the visitors.
Almond, a 6-6, 225-pound guard out of Rice was selected by the Jazz in the first round (25th overall selection) of the 2007 NBA Draft. He has appeared in six games for the Jazz, totaling three points, one assist and one steal in 25 minutes of action. While on assignment with the Flash, Almond has appeared in 16 games and is averaging a league-leading 26.4 points, along with 1.4 assists and 3.6 rebounds. He set a D-League record by scoring 53 points at Bakersfield on January 30, breaking a record he had previously tied with 51 vs. Austin on December 21.
Fesenko, a 21-year-old native of the Ukraine (7-1, 288), was originally selected by Philadelphia in the second round (38th overall selection) of the 2007 NBA Draft, but acquired by the Jazz in a draft night deal. He has appeared in seven games for the Jazz, averaging 1.4 points and 3.3 rebounds in 9.1 minutes per game. He scored six points and grabbed seven rebounds in 17 minutes in a 120-96 Jazz win over the Los Angeles Lakers in his NBA debut on November 30. He has appeared in 22 games during three stints with the Flash, averaging 10.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.41 blocks (third in D-League).
Other players with Utah connections selected to the D-League All-Star Game include ex-Jazzman Randy Livingston, former Jazz camp invitee Cory Violette, former Jazz second-round pick Kaniel Dickens (50th overall in 2000) and Weber State alums Lance Allred and Eddie Gill.
