Millions of dollars' worth of stolen paintings were recovered intact after Florida police busted an ex-con hired to drive the artwork to New York last month who took off with the haul, officials said yesterday.
The works retrieved include a nude series by Milton Avery and paintings by Larry Rivers, Hunt Slonem and Hawk Alfredson.
There also were items scheduled to go to Christie's for auction, such as furniture and chandeliers.
Some artwork was to be delivered to the Avery estate on Central Park West, as well as private dealers and collectors and Manhattan galleries, including Remy Toledo and OK Harris.
Patrick Joseph McIntosh, 36, an employee of David Jones Fine Arts handling service in Boca Raton, Fla., was arrested in a trailer park in Gainesville, Fla., Wednesday after disappearing with a full 24-foot rental box truck for two weeks.
The truck and artwork were found three miles from the park in a parking lot. It was located by its GPS tracker.
McIntosh has a long rap sheet that includes theft and gun possession. He was released from prison just in December.
The burly, 6-foot-9 McIntosh is charged with grand larceny and auto-theft.
