This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

After terrorists smashed an airliner into the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001, a 3-star Marine general rushed out of his office and saw a huge ball of flame rushing down the corridor, barreling towards him and many others. They knew it would be impossible to outrun or avoid the fireball, and did not see a way to escape. Then a folding fire-retardant sliding partition quickly slid into place between the fireball and the people, saving them all. The general said he felt no heat from the inferno on the other side of the partition.

Products from the Won-Door Corporation of Salt Lake City saved many lives that terrible day of 9-11. I learned of that story in a presentation I saw with Ron Smart, president of Won-Door. I also learned that hundreds of well-known entities all over the world use and praise the products from this great Utah company. Thousands of facilities around the world rely on Won-Door to satisfy needs in their buildings.

Ron showed me an illustration of him holding his hand on one side of his fire-retardant doors. On the other side, 84 gas-fired burners produced temperatures of 2000 degrees Fahrenheit. Ron did not feel any heat! He then showed me the door's durability and strength. He literally threw himself against the door over and over again. He smashed it with his fist. He kicked it as hard as he could. Not even a scratch resulted.

Won-Door products have many applications. They can compartmentalize a building to contain a threat or the effects of a security incident. Building owners and businesses can also monitor and control every door logged into the system. Software enables users to diagnose malfunctions, open the doors and preprogram closings.

Many of us do not notice Won-Doors, however, because they seem nearly invisible when not in use. Effective as both a fire and smoke barrier, Won-Door FireGuard folds to just inches per foot. And pocket cover doors blend in with the surrounding decor.

Won-Door Corporation could be the best Utah company you've never heard of!
