(KSL News) -- The latest crash tests show vehicles with side airbags tend to be safer.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety ranked safety of 2005 and 2006 minivans, both with and without side airbags.
The institute ranked vans with side airbags -- like the Toyota Sienna, Nissan Quest and Honda Odyssey -- as the safest vans. And minivans without side air bags, such as the Mazda MPV, earned poor ratings.
Nearly 10-thousand people die each year in side impact crashes.
