This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
Twenty-one years ago Kurt and Dawn Larsen were probably not thinking, "Hey, let's open a business and be in the top 100 companies in Utah within 20 years or so." But that's exactly what this dynamic married couple has done.
Resource Management opened the doors to be the human resources arm for multiple businesses and now they handle almost 12,000 employees working with 300 companies in 47 states. They have to understand multiple HR codes and rules because it varies from state to state.
An important area of focus for this growing Salt Lake City company is the new healthcare law which went into effect this year. They bring knowledge and expertise to the table in helping their clients work their way through all the latest regulations. No small feat considering the size of the bill. One new client came to them this year specifically for help in implementing the law.
Resource Management has three major functions in handling the "co-employment" responsibilities of any given business: payroll, human resources and benefits. They handle all aspects of payroll management plus hiring, recruiting, on boarding and employee placement. This is what some HR directors don't enjoy doing.
Dawn says an important focus for Resource Management is personal touches. Despite the size of their growing business, they believe in giving only the best service. This is a high-touch business where they get to know your staff and your processes. That's probably why they have a 97 percent retention rate for clients.
Besides managing HR applications, they also handle risk management. Resource Management produces employee job descriptions, handbooks, compliance statements and other types of insurance through Lloyd's of London.
For Zions Bank, I'm Chris Redgrave, speaking on business.
