A heart warming ad in the classifieds section on KSL.com has created a campaign to warm the feet of those in need. And, in the process a valuable lesson has been learned about compassion and charity.
The ad was written by a 16-year-old girl named Ashley who wanted to pay tribute to her ailing great grandmother known as Nanna.
Ashley says when she was little and showed up to her Nanna's house without warm socks on, her Nanna always gave her a pair. It's one of the special memories she has of her great grandmother.
In honor of her Nanna, Ashley decided she wanted to give too - and what better gift to give than socks. She asked her mother to post an ad on KSL.com soliciting socks for the needy.
"One of the first things people think about when they're cold is their feet. If the sole of your foot is warm then the soul of your heart is warm," Ashley said. "Makes me think there are a lot of things in this world we can do. We can make a difference just one small thing, one step at a time."
Ashley is more than halfway to her goal of a thousand socks before Christmas.
