Mark and Hillary Maxwell's life changed dramatically with the birth of triplets. They're "spontaneous" triplets, meaning no fertility drugs were involved. They're rare, and it was a high risk situation since the idential twins shared the same placenta, which increases t he possibility for tangled umbilical cords.
Hillary was put on 7-weeks of hospital bed rest this summer. Friends and neighbors came to the rescue to help care for the couple's three other young children.
Despite the challenges, and Hillary's temporary Bell's Palsy after delivering, they say it was a pregnancy filled with spiritual experiences, and they received confirmation that they were meant to go through this, no matter what the outcome.
"If nothing else, it was a very humbling experience to be on this end of all you can do is just have faith and I felt very strongly that the Lord knew I was stronger than 'I' thought I was, " Hillary said.
On August 3, 2012 the triplets were born at 32-weeks along. They're healthy, growing, and out of their incubators.
"There's someone cheering for you that's a higher power," Hillary said. Her husband, Mark added, "it comes to you and the Holy Ghost confirms that, yeah-you can do it."
