TOM CRUISE's fiancee KATIE HOLMES had an epidural to ease her pain when she gave birth to the couple's daughter SURI on Tuesday (18APR06).
It is not yet known whether the former DAWSON'S CREEK actress adhered to Scientology protocol by remaining silent during labour, but she did accept pain relief, according to American magazine People.
