40 Facts You May Not Know About Scott Haws

1. Scott is the youngest of eight children. He has three sisters and four brothers.

2. Scott holds an annual Griswold Christmas party every year. Costumes are mandatory.

3. Scott had a pet cow growing up.

4. Scott's first time in the spotlight was when he played the munchkin in the Wizard of Oz.

5. Scott's family refers to him as the "golden child."

6. When he turned seven years old, Scott made a sign at his party that said "presents here."

7. Scott builds wood furniture. He has made a log crib, a boat bed and a treehouse for his children.

8. The Spanish American actress Charo had a major crush on Scott and would send him gifts.

9. 10 years ago, Scott rode his bike 3333 miles across the country from Laguna Beach to Ground Zero in New York to raise money for his charity and to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

10. Scott's favorite dessert is a homemade chocolate chip cookie dipped in milk.

11. When he was young, Scott's brother tied and hoisted him up a flagpole at school and left him there.

12. Scott was the lead singer in a high school band that played for his high school graduation.

13. Scott won the Ricks College talent contest playing and singing Billy Joel's "Piano Man." He accompanied himself on the piano and with the harmonica.

14. Scott has over 40 already tied ties hanging in his closet. He says 4 AM is too early to tie ties.

15. Scott was cooking his own breakfast by age 2. Now he's a good cook, known for his Swedish bread and Italian dishes.

16. Scott plays the piano, saxophone, guitar and harmonica.

17. As a senior in high school, Scott was captain of the high school baseball team and MVP.

18. Scott served an LDS mission to Padova, Italy.

19. Scott played baseball for BYU as a pitcher in 1994-1995. He was named an "All-WAC player," he was awarded as an academic athlete and he still holds the school pitching records. He was named the "Strikeout King" and was BYU's winningest pitcher since 1989.

20. Scott was the first BYU broadcasting student to interview Robert Redford.

21. Scott sang the national anthem at a BYU baseball game before he got on the mound to pitch the game.

22. Scott was a server and bus boy at the La Caille restaurant.

23. Scott's first broadcasting job was as the weekend anchor for the CBS station in Medford Oregon. Then he worked as the morning news anchor at the NBC station in Las Vegas for seven years.

25. Scott started one of the first online tee time reservation companies called "lasvegasteetimes.com."

26. Scott considered being an architect.

27. Scott loves to fish and camp and is a good fly fisherman.

30. Scott wants to be in a Hale Theater play someday.

35. Scott has coached Little League baseball and is currently the pitching coach at Skyline High School. Last season they won the state championship.
