I love my kitchen. We did a lot to it when we bought our house a couple of years ago. It's got the countertops and wall color we like, and we bought a Viking stove at an estate sale for a great price. But after doing a closer look on kitchen remodeling, I can't believe the things that are out there! Steamers, warming drawers, freezer drawers (all placed anywhere in the kitchen) bigger stoves and ranges, huge sub-zero freezers and fridges -- the ability to make them look like furniture -- granite countertops, islands with all sorts of craziness going on. I'd have to buy a bigger house to fit in the kitchen I now daydream about! I interviewed Marie Pitcher at the Roth Concepts Center, and Steve Clark at Orson Gygi. They said most big-time kitchen remodelers are not on their first house, don't have little ones under foot, and they've lived with a kitchen for a while and are now remodeling to get the one they deserve. Darn, I've got to wait a while.
