This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

A best practice for Cache Valley Hospital is investing in state-of-the-art equipment. This is part of the reason why they're leading out in hyperbaric and wound care and why they're at the forefront of becoming stroke certified. They've also developed a strong partnership with the University of Utah to improve and increase the level of care and services they can provide. Another example of why Utah is leading out for our quality of healthcare.

As consumers become more educated and continue to turn to self-service technologies and channels, the entire healthcare industry is changing in response. Around 80 percent of U.S. Internet users claim to have used the web to search for health-related information and answers. Doctors now have opportunities to engage with today's empowered and educated consumer.

In talking with John Worley (whir-lee), CEO of Cache Valley Hospital in North Logan, he says this is something the hospital is addressing. The inspiration for Cache Valley Hospital was to provide more healthcare options for patients and a better doctor/patient connection. So, a group of local physicians came together, bought some land and started building their facility. It started small with just eight beds, three operating rooms, an imaging department, emergency room and lab.

The word spread of what this physician-owned hospital is doing, and over the last 12 years, it has steadily expanded to include more services. Right now they're in the process of changing their name to show all they have to offer, like a 24-hour Level 4 Trauma Certified Emergency Department, all types of specialty care and therapies and a full-range of imaging services. Cache Valley Hospital is one of a handful of accredited hyperbaric and wound centers in Northern Utah. Less than 10 percent of hyperbaric facilities nationwide are accredited, so this is a big deal.

At Cache Valley Specialty Hospital the doctors and staff are dedicated to partnering with community physicians to provide a service-oriented, cost-effective choice for quality healthcare. Their vision is really catching on since the hospital has experienced consistent growth every year since their founding in 2000.
