(KSL News) The U.S. Postal Service is stepping up its efforts to warn people against financial fraud.

It has launched a large scale media campaign to warn people about possible schemes, including fake check scams.

A survey shows nearly one in five Americans admitted that they or a family member have been victimized by a financial scam.

The Postal Service says most scam artists will ask that a person cash a fake check and wire back some of the money. Officials say they've seized more than half-a-million fake checks worldwide this year.
