LONDON, Apr 12, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- A British rape victim who was denied compensation from the rapist who won the lottery while on parole, said she will take her case to the House of Lords.
The woman, known as Mrs. A, filed a civil suit for psychiatric injury against the rapist. her claim was denied by a High Court in October and by an Appeals Court Wednesday, the BBC reports.
The courts said she didn't meet the six-year statute of limitations for filing a suit for compensation.
Convicted rapist Iorworth Hoare attempted to rape Mrs. A in Leeds' Roundhay Park in 1988. He was sentenced to life in prison and served 16 years.
He won more than $1.2 million in the Lotto in 2004.
Mrs. A said she didn't file a civil suit against Hoare within the six-year time frame because he had no money or assets and wouldn't have been able to pay her.
