Maybe it's because I just finished some really bad books, but I loved this latest sexy thriller from Sandra Brown. She reminds me of Nora Roberts. Her characters are independent and strong-willed and in trouble, and always - always - gorgeous.

This time her hero is a former Dallas Cowboys quarterback. He is disgraced because he got caught throwing a game. He does his time, gets out of prison, and gets the most bizarre job offer. Will he secretly sire a child for the owner of a major airline who cannot conceive children with his wife? Will he do it for a half a million dollars and a million more every year on the child's birthday?

What?

I know. It's trashy and soap-opera and so much fun. Warning - there is some language and some adult content, but not too much. And Sandra Brown writes such excellent dialogue and sympathetic (if not a little shallow) characters. It took my mind off things. I didn't learn anything, but I didn't feel like learning anything.

For what it is, I recommend Sandra Brown's latest bestseller, Play Dirty.
