LOS ANGELES, Mar 28, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Premiere Radio Network's syndicated host Delilah is gearing up for a radiothon on 200 U.S. stations to raise money for children in a Liberian refugee camp.
Delilah, a single mother of seven children including four she adopted, started a foundation, Point Hope, to help children in need. The foundation is currently focused on children among 80,000 refugees in the 120-acre Buduburam camp without fresh water or electricity, Premiere said in a news release.
Point Hope has already opened a medical clinic in the camp near Ghana and is looking to open a school as well.
Stevie Wonder, Josh Groban, The Eagles, LeAnn Rimes, Michael Buble and Kimberly Locke are just a few of the celebrities lined up to participate in the Friday night fund-raiser.
Celebrities have donated more than 300 items to an eBay auction running through April 2 that will also benefit Point Hope.
"I have been very fortunate to always be able to provide for the needs of my children," Delilah said in a statement. "It breaks my heart to know that so many children will go to bed hungry, sick and without a family tonight. I'm doing what I can to be a voice for these forgotten children."
