(KSL News) Free testing for HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases is being offered by the Utah Department of Health.

Until Friday, confidential screenings will be offered at 42 locations around the state in the hopes that detection will stop the spread of the diseases.

Health officials say the number of sexually transmitted diseases has exploded in recent years. The number of cases of Chlamydia has increased by over 60 percent since 2001. And the number of Gonorrhea cases has increased by over 280 percent.
