Tomorrow is the 15th annual Day of Caring sponsored by United Way of Salt Lake.

It is quite remarkable, really, what will take place. Think of it - with the support of their employers, thousands of volunteers on the company clock will take time away from work to help with more than a hundred service projects. In a single day, these volunteers from throughout Davis, Salt Lake, Summit and Tooele counties will spread out to do tasks that might otherwise never get done. Indeed, it will be a "day of caring."

KSL strongly supports this annual event, along with the organization that sponsors it. United Way is one of the most vibrant and effective charitable organizations in the country. The local group, especially, has demonstrated extraordinary ability to rally people and efficiently use money raised for vital and meaningful purposes.

Beyond tomorrow's day of service, we encourage Utahns to contribute generously to United Way of Salt Lake and thereby to the dozens of community partners who receive United Way funding. Because of the support of corporate sponsors who cover modest administrative costs, 100 percent of every personal donation to United Way goes toward a worthy cause.

In KSL's view, a dollar donated to United Way goes a long way toward making our communities better.
