openhagen (dpa) - Danish author Peter Hoeg, creator of the best seller "Smilla's Sense of Snow," is to release his first book in 10 years in May, reports said Thursday.
The 49-year-old Hoeg's "Den stille pige" (The Silent Girl) was due to hit bookshops May 19, the Politiken newspaper reported.
The novel centres on a circus performer who has a passion for poker and Johann Sebastian Bach's music, who learns that a former student has been abducted.
Hoeg has in recent years avoided the public eye.
"Smilla's Sense of Snow" was translated into more than two dozen languages and also made into a film directed by Bille August. Julia Ormond played the main character.
Hoeg's most recent work was the 1996 "The Woman and the Ape."
