This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
You could say Ron Schmidt with Bavarian Motorcycle Workshop was raised on a BMW Motorcycle. He has spent over 30 years in the business and loves the top-end BMW motorcycle line. He comes by this honestly since his parents were both motorcycle people in the 40s and 50s. His dad really loved fast bikes.
Ron decided early on he didn't want to spend his work time in a corporate job, especially if it was something he wasn't passionate about. He thought, Why not take something you love and make it your job? Do you realize that in 2010, only 45 percent of Americans were satisfied with their jobs? You can count Ron as one of the Americans who loves their job, and that's how Bavarian Motorcycle came about.
Ron set up this business model with as little overhead as possible so he can pass the savings on to his dedicated clientele. For this very reason, you won't see a line of clothing, helmets or any gear that adds to expenses. He has orchestrated a team of some of the best mechanics in the business, focused on BMW motorcycle repair.
This "no frills" workshop is located at 427 North 300 West where you can see the mechanic working on your bike. In fact, you can meet this person and find out firsthand what's going on with your motorcycle. Their clients get an education on the repairs, which is important to some of the motorcycle enthusiasts. Some customers even want to do a few repairs themselves, and Ron and his staff are open to helping them understand how to do this. How's that for service?
This highly personalized business is reasonably priced so you can own a high-end bike and not have to be a millionaire. Ron feels strongly about this and walks his talk. He says when it's all said and done "it's still just a machine."
When you visit Bavarian Motorcycle Workshop, be sure to give the company dogs Dozer and Maggie a big love from me.
