ST. PAUL, Minn., Dec 30, 2005 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Public radio host Garrison Keillor isn't moving "A Prairie Home Companion" from the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, Minn., after all.
Keillor sparked a mild panic two months ago when he said he wasn't sure if he would broadcast his 2006 season from the theater where he originated "A Prairie Home Companion" in 1978, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported Friday.
But Keillor announced Thursday night that his fans and his affection for downtown St. Paul swayed him to stay put.
"I do listen when people pull me aside and tell me things, and some were saying that it would be an awful shame not to do the show in downtown St. Paul," Keillor told the newspaper. "I took that into consideration."
St. Paul Mayor-elect Chris Coleman called Keillor's decision "fantastic."
"There's no other place it could be," he said. "It's how people around the globe know St. Paul."
