Have You Seen This? Doubting Jimmer February 8th, 2011 @ 5:30pm By Graydon Johns

SALT LAKE CITY -- Well, apparently not everyone has fallen in love with BYU's Jimmer Fredette.

Jimmermania has spread across the nation like wildfire ever since the senior All-American scored 47 points against the rival Runnin' Utes, making all the highlight reels -- including ESPN's Top Plays -- with his 30-foot jumpers and half court buzzer-beater.

However, all the hoopla is apparently too much for one co-ed inside the walls of Brigham Young University.

One of Jimmer's own is taking a swing at the fans of the All-American senior.

On Monday, a scathing letter from BYU student Michelle Peralta appeared in the school's student newspaper, The Daily Universe.

In the letter, titled "Idol Worship," Peralta insults her peers with questions like, "Don't you have a life to live? Then quit wasting it in front of the TV or in lines at the Marriott Center."

Peralta also chimes in with scripture references as she scolds the Jimmer faithful.

"Cut it out with the Jimmer worship. Last time I checked, idol worship was very much frowned upon in the scriptures."

"I'm not blaming Jimmer for all this; was it Nephi's fault in the Book of Mormon when his brothers worshiped him?"

Peralta posted on her facebook wall about the letter and it didn't take long for the fans to respond, and oh, did they respond -- or should I say react.

Jimmermania is in full swing in Cougartown, much to the chagrin of one BYU co-ed.

Hundred of humorous comments made for a fantastic read including notables:

Have you been baptized by Jimmersion yet?

For God so loved the word, he gave us Jimmer.

The Jimmer will smile kindly upon you and you shall receive joy.

My favorite primary song is "Amazing" by Brother TJ Fredette.

Even Jimmer's enemies list him as their emergency contact.

Then there is this YouTube gem called "An Olive Branch" warmly inviting Peralta to "join what America has grown to love... Jimmer and the BYU Basketball team."

I'm sure poor Ms. Peralta didn't expect or want all the attention, she simply wanted a little peace and quiet and for her Jimmer-fied friends to get a hold of themselves.

Unfortunately for Peralta she got the exact opposite... she got Jimmer'd.
