NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J., Dec 21, 2005 (UPI via COMTEX) -- "West Wing" star Richard Schiff is headed back to the stage in the one-man play, "Underneath the Lintel," at New Jersey's George Street Playhouse.

Award-winning director Maria Mileaf will help Schiff bring Glen Berger's script to life, the New Brunswick, N.J., theater said on its Web site.

Schiff, who plays White House Communications Director Toby Ziegler on the NBC show, will portray a Danish librarian who embarks on a life-changing quest to find a book that is 113 years overdue. The show runs Jan. 10 through Feb. 5, 2006.

Schiff actually began his career as a New York theater director. Among his many TV credits are "Ally McBeal," "The Practice," "Chicago Hope" and "ER."

His film credits include "Seven," "Malcolm X," "Michael," "Jurrasic Park: The Lost World," "Dr. Doolittle," "Forces of Nature" and "What's the Worst That Can Happen?"
