This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
If you've ever driven the I-15 corridor between Salt Lake City and Sandy, chances are good you know who Heather Barber is. You just may not realize it.
Heather is the Queen of Wraps, and she's featured on the sign for the South Salt Lake company clearly visible from the car window as you drive. This business provides a range of services from vehicle wraps to marketing assistance to large format printing. Some clients come knowing exactly what they want while others may not even have a logo, but the staff graphic designers can help with that.
The Queen of Wraps recently purchased a 10-foot printer that doubles the amount of wraps they can produce. This will save on time and production costs and increases the company's fabric printing capabilities for tents and trade show booths, opening the door for growth nationally. They already do printing from all over the world, and you may have seen their work on American Idol, the Warren Miller Tour or the Dew Tour.
Heather feels fortunate the company is located in Utah since the overhead is lower and the economy is much better than many other places. She's also impressed with the caliber of people it attracts. I'm sure these are all factors that have helped Utah be ranked first for its competitive environment and as the best managed state in the nation.
It was interesting to learn this business is family enterprise. Five of the six members of Heather's immediate family are involved: her father, Harley Griffith, and three brothers, Nate, Matt and Bryan.
Family businesses can put a strain on relationships, but that's not the case with Griffith family. Heather's parents raised their children to be individuals, so each member of the family has their area of expertise which helps the company be successful. Nate, the oldest, is a technofile, Heather is a people person, Matt is the entrepreneur and Bryan is an excellent salesman. Family always comes first, so if the business gets in the way, they'll figure something else out.
For Zions Bank, I'm Chris Redgrave, speaking on business.
