This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
So here's another example of the Utah entrepreneur spirit. Britton and Michelle Banham started their business, Custom Fabrication and Machining, smack dab in the middle of an economic downturn. And they're still succeeding!
I am constantly impressed with this "pioneer spirit" that is so entrenched in our small business DNA here. This could be because Utah was voted first in the nation for our economic outlook, as the best managed state and for our economic dynamism. Forbes magazine also named us the third best state for business.
This start-up company in Logan has 11 full and part-time employees and is already on a roll. The art of sheet metal welding involves working with materials from aluminum and steel to bronze and plastics. These custom-designed orders are completed to perfection with the help of technology and their dedicated team. When it's all said and done, the top-notch employees with experience who can write programs on the computer and download directly to the CNC equipment help made it all possible. Computerized laser cutting also adds to the finished product's precision.
The company has complete focus on making their customers' lives easier. The team keeps the company issues internal, developing a professional demeanor and a quick turnaround. One of Custom Fabrication and Machining's core principles is as simple as doing what you say you're going to do. They believe this is vital to build up the company.
Since Britton and Michelle work together and I know that can present challenges in the workplace, I couldn't resist asking, "How is it working together?" And they told me they know each other's imperfections, and they just blow it off.
Britton brings 17 years of experience and customer service to the table, which has helped the company get off to a good start. He says this is because of his dedicated team and excellent customers. Forming trust, friendship and partnerships with customers along with producing quality parts and using only the highest level of customer service is essential to a successful business relationship.
