Marc Giauque, KSL NewsradioSalt Lake Police are investigating the discovery of a body found in a pond near the landfill. The body was found floating in the water near 7000 West and California Avenue. The badly swollen body was found by workers at the landfill.
Salt Lake City Police Detective Jeff Bedard says the man wasn't wearing any clothing and there was no identification found on the shore. Bedard says, "We've had some reports from people in the area, people driving trucks, working at the landfill recently that they'd observed somebody swimming in this pond area, over here. So we believe it may be the same person."
Police say there is no sign of trauma on the body, which is now at the Medical Examiner's Office. Right now, police do not suspect foul play.
