As soon as you meet Benja and try her cuisine, you'll understand exactly why friends and family kept asking her to open a restaurant. The food is outstanding!
Believing that food is a gift, Benja has been preparing food for many family parties and church gatherings over the years. She grew up in Thailand and all of her cooking is made from family recipes gathered during her childhood. Through the years, everyone who tasted her authentic Thai food loved it and encouraged her to open a restaurant. It took several years before Benja was finally able to do so.
This impressive family has lived all over and decided to settle in St. George, Utah. They arrived in 2003 and entered the restaurant business in 2005. Benja and her family started their restaurant venture as a co-ownership with a gentleman already in the business, but the family has since taken over the business. Their son Alex has really taken a special interest in the business, from menu and business card design to running the restaurant as the manager.
Benja's Thai Garden serves a wide variety of authentic Thai dishes. This includes such dishes as drunken noodles or the more localized St. George fried rice. There's also the popular sticky rice with mango and curry that's out of this world!
Like the food, the ambience in Benja's Thai Garden is also authentically Thai. She and Eric found teak-covered, hand-carved pictures from her native land that now adorn the walls of the restaurant. They serve as a reminder of where Benja grew up and first learned how to prepare and appreciate the Thai food and sushi that she is quickly becoming famous for. Benja's personal philosophy is to live without fear, and it's paying off. She recently opened a second restaurant, Benja Thai and Sushi, which is also turning into a local favorite.
When you're in St. George and decide to try Benja's Thai Garden restaurant, make a point to introduce yourself to Benja and you'll understand why she's so successful.
