Let's face it — going to the doctor is a hassle, even if it's necessary. And taking your child can be even harder… But not if Dr. Bruce O'very (oh-very) has anything to say about it.
Dr. O'very, a pediatrician, is the founder of Treehouse Pediatrics in Logan. He has worked hard to give his practice a homey and safe atmosphere that helps his young patients and their parents feel more comfortable. The office resembles a mountain lodge you might find in one of Utah's beautiful canyons. In honor of its name, Treehouse Pediatrics, the office waiting room has a realistic-looking tree and treehouse with branches that extend into the rafters.
Dr. O'very tells me people immediately feel at ease when entering the office, which he believes helps encourage them to follow suggested medical care. The percentage of successful immunization rates for Treehouse is much higher than average, which he also attributes to the comfortable office environment and quality of care.
Treehouse Pediatrics started in 1999 when Dr. O'very first came to town. He and another physician were given startup funds and an office space in Providence to help them get started. The first two years were difficult, but the practice slowly began to flourish. The name changed to Treehouse Pediatrics in 2001 when Dr. Russel McKenna joined the practice, and it moved to his current location at 1325 N. 600 East in Logan.
In addition to Dr. O'very, Treehouse Pediatrics now employs two physicians and a nurse practioner. Within the year, one more physician will be joining the practice. He feels people along the Wasatch Front take their health seriously, which has helped the practice to remain strong. He enjoys being able to involve the clinic in the community, sponsoring all kinds of local events he believes in from athletics to the arts, and he anticipates this will continue.
