What do you think of this Bacon Bar? I would totally try it in the name of investigative journalism. I mentioned the Bacon Bar on the air this morning during my 7:53 debrief segment with Tim and Grant. Why? Because bacon prices are up! Here's the article: http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/food/2010-08-15-bacon-prices\_N.htm If your children didn't know it, bacon used to be a breakfast side dish only. Now it's not only on burgers, but in practically everything else as restaurants try to lure in more eaters through the tasty, salty, fatty stuff. As a result, demand is up, but supply is down for a variety of reasons mentioned in the article. Therefore, bacon is getting more expensive. When I told this to Grant and Tim, they said something about me always bringing bad news. The good news is the market will adjust. It always does. Meanwhile, chefs will probably come up with more bacon-dishes. Anyone see last week's episode of The Next Food Network Star where they did a battle bacon in the Iron Chef studios? That bacon crab-cake looked promising.
