LONDON, Oct 17, 2005 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Who says men are better at math than women -- an 18-year-old Welsh woman beat out 254 other entrants to win Britain's National Su Doku championship.

Nina Pell, a student at Sheffield University, was not the only woman among the top finishers. Women also placed second and fourth, the Times of London, which sponsored the contest, reported.

The National Su Doku Championship gives contestants 58 minutes to work out some of the most difficult mathematical puzzles ever put together. It took her only 13 minutes and 48 seconds to complete her grid. Naomi Cooper, 24, of London, came in second, and Hein van dem Wildeberg of the Netherlands came in third.
