"Oceans" is Disney's offering for Earth Day 2010. Pierce Brosnan narrates this documentary that offers no apology for carrying a message of concern mixed with breathtaking images of the earth's magnificent oceans.

Following in the footsteps of 2007's "Earth," we not only discover the ethereal beauty and unique creatures that live in the oceans of our planet, but the filmmakers are not shy about including startling and even mildly disturbing images of the oceanic food chain. It's pointed out, of course, that all creatures rely on the oceans and considerable time is devoted to man and our less than admirable stewardship.

While clearly there is an agenda here, it's not so heavy-handed that it detracts from the amazing experience of the film. I do have to admit that it took me a while to warm up to Pierce Brosnan's narrative but -- while no Morgan Freeman or James Earl Jones -- it eventually settled in.

Loaded with, "How in the world did they ever get that shot?" moments, "Oceans" is visually stunning.

It is well worth the price of admission. I'm giving the film 3 ½ stars and it's rated only G. But be aware that there are some food chain moments that push that G rating.
