(KSL TV) Brian David Mitchell is scheduled to be in court today on charges unrelated to the abduction of Elizabeth Smart.
A pre-trial conference is scheduled for Mitchell on shoplifting charges brought during the time he was allegedly holding Smart hostage.
Mitchell is currently undergoing a mental evaluation in connection with his possible involvement in the Smart kidnapping case.
He and wife Wanda Barzee are expected to be in court later this month to answer to those charges.
