(Salt Lake City- AP) There's been a court appearance today by Brian Mitchell, who's facing charges in connection with the abduction of Elizabeth Smart.
Mitchell remained in his jail cell, for a closed-circuit television appearance in Salt Lake City on charges unrelated to the kidnap case.
He pleaded innocent to a charge of shoplifting from a supermarket last September -- when he allegedly took batteries, gum, a flashlight and beer. When he was cited, he told police that his name was "Go With God."
It was one of two times he was arrested while Elizabeth was missing. Yesterday, authorities in California disclosed that Mitchell was arrested and held for six days in San Diego County last month for vandalizing a church. He pleaded guilty then, and was released on probation.
